Remains of Patrice Emery Lumumba are returned

An official ceremony was held on June 20th at the Egmont Palace in Brussels to mark the return of the remains of the former Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Patrice Emery Lumumba, in the presence of his family and the Belgian and Congolese authorities.

Prime Ministers Alexander De Croo and Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde and Juliana Lumumba delivered a speech, which was followed by an artistic performance by Belgian-Congolese artist Reinel Bakole.

The staff of the Chancellery were responsible for all aspects of the preparation and coordination of this significant moment in relations between Belgium and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
